David grew up in Leonard Michigan, and attended Oxford High School. He served with the 1st Battalion 8th Marine Regiment in the United States Marine Corps prior to a long career in law enforcement. He is an LLMSW from the University of Michigan. He has been trained in Crisis Intervention Training, Critical Incident Stress Management, Trauma Informed Care, Peer support specialist and mentor with the Genesee County Veterans Treatment Court. He is a trainer in Suicide Awareness for Law Enforcement Officers. He is passionate about improving the mental health of Veterans and First Responders. He is an avid outdoorsman and classic car enthusiast.
