Emily’s path to becoming a Physician Assistant wasn’t a straight line, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. She began her career as a secondary education teacher because she has always loved helping others learn, grow, and reach their potential. While she enjoyed teaching, she eventually realized that her calling was in healthcare.
She returned to school to become a respiratory therapist and spent the next ten years caring for critically ill patients. During that time, she found deep fulfillment in supporting patients and their families through some of the most challenging moments of their lives. Wanting to take on more responsibility and have an even greater impact on patient care, she went back to school again to become a Physician Assistant.
For the past three years, she’s worked in a trauma ICU, where she’s seen how trauma, addiction, mental illness, nutrition, and lifestyle all play a significant role in healing. Caring for patients in the hospital showed her that recovery doesn’t end at discharge. Many of the challenges that bring people into the ICU begin long before they arrive and continue long after they leave. Those experiences inspired her to pursue psychiatry, where she can help patients address the root causes of their struggles and support them in building healthier, more fulfilling lives.
Her goal is to create a space where you feel heard, respected, and understood. She believes that the best care comes from working together, and she’s passionate about helping each patient find hope, healing, and a treatment plan that fits their unique needs. It is a privilege to walk alongside her patients on their journey toward better mental health.
