Steven Ashmont is a Board-Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New Jersey. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Health Education from Kean University, earning summa cum laude honors, as well as a Master of Social Work from Stockton University, also earning summa cum laude honors. During schooling, Steven was an intern for the NJ Association for Mental Health's Ocean County location, where he was eventually hired, assisting in various agency advocacy projects that provided no-cost services to underserved populations. These included the development and implementation of new programs such as the New Jersey Hope and Healing program aimed at providing support during disasters. He went on to develop his therapeutic approach in the community mental health setting where he served patients of Ocean, Monmouth, and Atlantic County, providing evidence-based, person-centered psychotherapy tailored to each individual's needs. During his time in the field, Steven started a successful young adult's group, has worked closely with leadership positions across New Jersey to advocate for better mental health service delivery, and has received training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), evidence-based mindfulness practice, and internal family systems (IFS). He has extensive experience working with various populations, including young adults, EMS, first-responders, teachers, medical providers, and law enforcement. He is familiar with working with individuals suffering from generalized and social anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, mood disorders, personality disorders, acute and chronic stress, and managing major life changes. Steven prides himself in getting to know each and every individual he works with, making it apparent that each individual patient matters and has specific needs. When he has time, Steven enjoys spending his time outdoors at the beach, participating in water sports, exercising, and enjoying cars and motorcycles.
