First Responders & Veterans
As a dedicated team of mental health providers we are passionate about helping those that help others. We have a team comprised of mental health professionals who are experienced with assisting first responders and veterans with their needs.

Justin Liegmann, MD is a U.S. Navy veteran and has extensive training and accolades in treating PTSD, Anxiety Disorders, and workplace stressor situations for first responders and armed services veterans.

Dan Defeo, DO is trained in crisis intervention and is an appointed PBA Physician who takes care of first responders from a variety of New Jersey towns and cities.
All of our therapists are accredited and well versed in treating members who need assistance in dealing with the mental load that occurs as working as a public servant and first responder.

Cognois Health Partners was formed because of the need for compassionate health care providers who understand and treat the array of mental health conditions affecting our population of patients in New Jersey. With a focus on first responder and veterans, our team is comprised of Board Certified mental health professionals whose sole goal is strengthening our patients and empowering them to understand their unique situation.

Our initial consultation will include an evaluation of current symptoms, such as: mood, anxiety, addictions, sleep patterns, eating patterns and we will also conduct a behavioral disorder assessment.
The assessment also evaluates the family structure, educational or occupational functioning, medical, family, and developmental histories. Afterwards one of our board certified professionals will decide on a course of treatment. The behavioral health team works hand in hand with our medical doctors so some patients will be prescribed a medication if medically needed.
